Welcome to our new Councillor

We welcome our new Labour councillor Khizar Hussain who joins Harbans Sarohi and Dennis Anson to make a strong Labour team who will together try to counter the too fast and too deep cuts being implemented by this Tory/Liberal Alliance

New members flock to join the Labour Party

We learn that 15,000 joined Labour online, extra 3,000 joined off line. That's 18,000 new members in last 14 days - Remarkable.

Thus sends us a message from the people that we hold the respect of an increasing number of the electorate. Let us build on this support .

I am married and have three married daughters and four grand children. Since my election as a councillor in May 2000, I have taken keen interest in solving the problems of my constituents. I hold surgeries with my colleague Cllr. D. Anson every Saturday at Pleck Library and I am available at any time at my home.
I am member of Licensing Committee, Appeals committee, Planning Committee, Vice- Chair of Governors Alumwell Business College, Friends of Pleck Park, Governor Hillary Street Junior School, Pleck Neighbourhood Watch, Alumwell Neighbourhood Watch and Agenda 21 Birchills. I have campaigned on your behalf on issues relating to Pleck and promise to continue doing so”.
Pleck Issues
We are pleased to see Pleck Library has been refurbished. It is not being used to its full potential and should be open at least five days a week. Your Labour councillors will be pressing hard to see this is placed on the agenda.
We are pleased to see the thirty six thousand gullies are now being cleaned in Pleck and the rest of the Borough. This problem was highlighted by your Labour councillors at a full Council meeting resulting in outside contractors being brought in to help with the backlog.
We still have problems with parking around the Manor hospital. We hope the bus service, that will come from the town centre every ten minutes into the hospital grounds, will help to solve this difficult problem.
Potholes all over the Pleck Ward are of great concern. Every pressure that can be put on the Council will be used.
Cars parking outside school gates in the ward are a great danger to our children. A solution is needed before someone is seriously injured.
We will continue support the police to reduce crime, anti-social behaviour, and prostitution in Pleck with the initiative they are taking to tackle these problems.
